The diploma at all levels includes the following components:
Learners must complete all elements to achieve the award of the overarching qualification. Diploma provides a quality progression route for 14-19 year old learners into further/higher education and employment.
Level 1 requires a total of 600 guided learning hours and is equivalent to 5 GCSEs grade D-G. At this level the emphasis is strongly on functional skills and care is taken to prevent too much specialisation.
Level 2 requires a total of 800 guided learning hours and is equivalent to 7 GCSEs Grade A*-C. Functional skills have to be passed at level 2 for learners to achieve this level.
The whole Advanced Diploma is a level 3 qualification and requires a total of 1080 guided learning hours. This qualification is equivalent to 3 1/2 A levels and is a challenging qualification, designed both to equip students to go straight into employment and fully prepare those who are intending to continue into higher education.
The Progression Diploma is a level 3 qualification and requires a total of 720 guided learning hours. This qualification is equivalent to 2 1/2 A levels and is designed for learners who are unable to complete the full diploma. It omits the additional and specialist learning element.
